The Poetry Project
The Poetry Project hosts a platform of 50th anniversary events called Giant Night, “encouraging us all to future-think our way into new lineages, pedagogies, and ways of seeing.” Through its live programming, workshops, publications, website and special events, The Poetry Project promotes, fosters and inspires the reading and writing of contemporary poetry by: presenting contemporary poetry to diverse audiences; increasing public recognition, awareness and appreciation of poetry and other arts; providing a community setting in which poets and artists can exchange ideas and information; and encouraging the participation and development of new poets from a broad range of styles.
Ariel Goldberg
Ariel Goldberg is a writer, artist and curator interested in intimate modes of observation. Publications include The Estrangement Principle (Nightboat Books, 2016) and The Photographer (Roof Books, 2015). Goldberg is the Friday night coordinator at The Poetry Project, championing interdisciplinary artists, activists, scholars, archivists and poets. Research and performance work has been supported by the New York Public Library, Franklin Furnace Fund, Headlands Center for the Arts, The Invisible Dog, Residencias Artísticas Intercambios and SOMA in Mexico City. Goldberg teaches at Parsons-The New School, Pratt Institute and the New York University Tisch School of the Arts’ Department of Photography and Imaging.
Simone White
Simone White is a poet and critic. She is the author of Of Being Disperse (Futurepoem), Unrest (Ugly Duckling Presse/Dossier Series) and House Envy of All the World (Factory School). A book of poems and a big essay, Dear Angel of Death, is forthcoming from Ugly Duckling in late 2017. She is program director of The Poetry Project and visiting assistant professor of literary studies at The New School, Eugene Lang College.
